There are many species of ant, the most common is the garden or black ant. These can be
treated with a residual insecticidal spray or an insecticidal dust. Pharoah ants however must
not be controlled like this as the queen has to be killed before any of the workers, or the nest
will 'bud' and spread to several different locations making the infestation much worse.
